Jan Hornát is a senior researcher at Peace Research Center Prague and a Head of the Department of North American Studies at the Institute of International Studies at Charles University.
Research focus
In his research, Jan Hornát focuses on the functions and meanings of liberalism and the liberal philosophy in liberal democratic systems and the liberal world order.
He is particularly interested in transatlantic relations and the sustainability of the liberal thought as a basis for our democracies and the world order at large.

Prior to joining the academia, Jan Hornát served as Head of Unit at the Department of European Programs at the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic.
