We are looking for an intern!

The Peace Research Center Prague is looking for an intern for its non-proliferation and disarmament projects. The internship is offered within the framework of EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Internship Programme, an educational initiative of the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Consortium.


The timeframe of internship:

15 September – 15 December 2020


Eligible candidates:

  • Students of the Master level degree

  • Ph.D. students

  • Postdocs


General information:

The first three weeks of the Internship will be organized according to the specific curriculum covering the basics of arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament. In the remaining weeks, the intern is expected to produce a research-based essay of a minimum of 20 pages during theirs stay.

Possible topics for the final essay:

  • challenges of chemical disarmament in the 21st century;

  • advancements in biotechnology and non-proliferation challenges;

  • nuclear renaissance and nuclear proliferation;

  • fragile statehood and the control of SALW/conventional weapons;

  • proliferation paths of SALW / conventional weapons in the aftermath of the Arab Spring;

  • MANPADS: challenges and options for control;

  • CBRN Security: facts, figures, strategies, and challenges ahead;

  • Arms control options for UAV;

  • Civilian uses of outer space and the EU CoC for space: options, limitations, challenges;

  • NWFZ in the Middle East, in Europe, in other regions: options, limitations, challenges.

The intern will also participate in the activities carried out by PRCP.

Financial Support:

The intern is expected to cover his/her living and traveling costs.
The internship provides limited subsidies (in the amount of 500 €/month) as well as a 300 € travel cost subsidy for traveling from/to the intern’s home country.

Who will be your colleagues?

Peace Research Center Prague is a research group comprised of a mix between junior and senior researchers based at Charles University, Prague in the historical center of the city. Although we research quite serious topics, we tend not to take ourselves too seriously.
